Caratulas de la Discografía de Eric Clapton (1970-2017) (Unofficiales)
Tuvo su primera guitarra en el año 1958. Tras dejar el colegio en 1961, ingresa en el Kingston College of Art, de donde fue expulsado por no progresar lo suficiente y trabajó como cartero.
Comenzó tocando en las calles alrededor de Kingston, Richmond, y el West End. Su técnica muy rápida hizo que sus seguidores de los 60, chistosamente le dieran el apodo "Slowhand" (Mano lenta).
